General Questions

Hair extensions are strands of real or synthetic hair used to add length, volume, or color to your natural hair. They can be applied through various methods, including clip-ins, tape-ins, sew-ins, and fusion techniques.

Yes! We offer 100% Remy human hair extensions, ensuring a natural look, smooth texture, and long-lasting quality.

Remy hair is collected in a way that keeps all cuticles aligned in the same direction, preventing tangling and ensuring a more natural appearance.

For a simple quick and hassle free WhatsApp quote, send Ponytales 1x rough image of side profile and 1x rough image of back profile. We need to see your current length and thickness to be able to establish how many extensions are needed. Also advise what length extensions you are interested in, as prices differ per length.

It depends on your lifestyle, hair type, and desired look. Clip-ins are great for temporary volume and length, while tape-ins and sew-ins provide a more semi-permanent solution.

Hair extensions can cause damage if not installed or removed correctly.
At Ponytales, we offer a variety of extension methods tailored to your specific needs. We pride ourselves on delivering guaranteed damage-free installations and removals.

Semi permanent hair extensions are extensions that need to be removed and re-applied every 6 to 16 weeks depending on the hair extension method. For more information on the different methods we offer go to the services page.  .

Top quality hair extensions come with a price tag. However, this price is more of an investment than a once off purchase because the hair may last over a year. If the quality is inferior, after the first week of wearing the hair, the hair will frizz, feel brittle and/or shed. Ponytales only offer ethnically sourced Remy hair, which means the cuticles are running in the same direction. If the hair is not cut correctly from the donor and kept in the same direction, the hair will knot & matt excessively.

Yes! Our human hair extensions can be washed, curled, straightened, and styled like your natural hair. However, avoid excessive heat and always use heat protectants.

It depends if you are wanting to add length or volume. As well as how thick or how thin your own hair is.

application & Maintenance

The lifespan of hair extensions depends on the origin of the hair and how it was cut from the donor.
At Ponytales, we offer only the highest quality Remy, cuticle-intact hair. While the hair typically lasts between 6 to 8 months, it can last for several months longer with proper care. In fact, most of our clients wear their hair for over a year at a time.

When washing your hair, it’s best to use a professional nourishing shampoo. Avoid shampoos with high levels of oils and silicones, as they can cause slippage. To maintain the integrity of the hair, use lukewarm water instead of hot. It’s also recommended to space out washings, typically every 2-3 days, to preserve the longevity of your extensions.

Clip-in extensions should be removed before bed to avoid tangling. Tape-ins, sew-ins, and other semi-permanent extensions can be worn overnight but should be secured in a loose braid or ponytail.

Yes, it is recommended to get a tangle free brush to help reduce breakage when brushing. Keeping your hair tangle free by brushing it often will help to prolong the lifespan of your extensions

Human hair extensions can be dyed darker but not lighter. If you need to colour your hair we recommend having a professional hair stylist apply your colour to blend your hair with your hair extensions.

Yes, but it’s best to wear a swim cap or keep your hair tied up. Chlorine and salt water can dry out and tangle extensions, so rinse and condition the hair before and after swimming.

Yes, you can absolutely wear your hair extensions while exercising.
We recommend tying your hair up and drying the bonded area after your workout to prevent knotting at the roots.

Yes, you can tie your hair while wearing extensions, but it’s recommended to opt for a low ponytail, bun, or plait. These styles help preserve the extensions and prevent unnecessary pulling on both your natural hair and the extensions.
